Breaking: 2 rescued as helicopter crashes in Lagos

Four persons aboard the private helicopter that crashed into Adeniyi Jones end of Oba Akran Ikeja area of Lagos State on Tuesday afternoon have been rescued alive with sustained injuries.

LASEMA, the Lágos state emergency agency activated its disaster response plan to the incident which occurred around 1600hrs.

According to the permanent secretary, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the helicopter containing 4 persons (two blacks and two whites) including the pilot crash landed in front of the United Bank of Africa branch on the road.

“All four casualties have been retrieved from the aircraft alive. They have been transferred to hospital for further care. The area has been cordoned off and is being blanketed to prevent a secondary incident. All Emergency responders are on scene.”

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the crashed jet was a light single engine aeroplane and not a helicopter.

The aeroplane was alleged to be on a test flight from the international wing of the Lagos international airport was operated by a tour company.

As at the time of the incident, the plane had five hours fuel endurance onboard.
